So, I have used this device several times. The learning curb is steep. Initially, I didn't care too much for the "metal-against-plastic" screeching sound while slicing the bread. Having plastic "powder" mixed in your bread is no good, right? Surprisingly, the plastic showed no scratches. Yay! After a few slices, I got just the correct angle and pressure, now I am able to make the thinnest slices of freshly baked bread, yay again! The only other issue is that after each slice, I have to remove the sliced portion of the bread before proceeding to making more slices. I wish I had the 3rd hand. One to hold the loaf, one to hold the knife and the 3rd to remove the slices. It has the non slip bottom or I would need a 4th hand;) I like it that the device holds crumbs (my family likes flaky bread so, I used to end up with a lot of crumbs on the counter after slicing to be discarded) on the bottom plate, which I immediately transfer to a special container to use as "panko" later. Bonus! Overall, I am happy with the purchase.
