This specialty shoyu from Daitoku, a Shoyu Brewer local to the Kansai region of Japan, combines naturally-brewed shoyu with whole Asakura sansho peppercorns. It is a fragrant shoyu unlike any other Japanese shoyu you've tried before!
Asakura sansho has been selected for the making of this shoyu, because it is an ingredient local to Yabu City, where Daitoku is located. Sansho Japanese pepper is similar to Sichuan Peppercorn but it has a more citrus-y flavor.
The addition of Asakura sansho gives the shoyu a fruitier aroma and more refreshing flavor. The pairing of Asakura sansho and shoyu truly do go extremely well together. You can also rest assured knowing that no chemical seasonings, synthetic preservatives, or genetically modified ingredients are used.
Daitoku is a Shoyu Brewery located in Yabu City Hyogo Prefecture that strongly believes in using local ingredients and traditional brewing methods. All of shoyu-based products are made of naturally brewed soy sauce made with domestically sourced soybeans, wheat, and salt.
As this shoyu contains whole sansho peppercorns, it is not recommended to use it in place of regular shoyu. Instead, use this Sansho Pepper Shoyu as a dipping sauce for vegetables, meat, and fish dishes.
