Their S55C Japanese carbon steel blades are extra hard and sharp, allowing them to cut much more than you would imagine from their size. They can prune green wood up to 6mm thick, making them fantastic for light garden pruning, fruit harvesting, and bud-cutting. They can also cut aluminum wire up to 1.5mm, string, twine and other materials making them perfect for setting up trellises and plant supports.

The top and bottom blades are both ground to a slight curve, called an "R-Style" blade in Japan, improving cutting efficiency.
