Their blades are ground at a curve, called an "R Blade" in Japan, which provides them with an exellent bite on whatever they're cutting, and allows them to cut paper, galvanized iron (to 0.5mm), aluminum cans and steel cans better than other scissors. 

The steel has been quenched to give it extra hardness and durability, to ensure that they will stay sharp for a long time, and has been parkarized, giving it a stylish black coating which provides fantastic rust resistance. The large handles are made of a flexible soft resin which is comfortable to hold, and won't put painful pressure on the tops of your fingers when cutting at angles.
