Higonokami is a hand-forged Japanese folding knife for customers who often engage in outdoor activities. It has excellent cutting capacity and durability.
The blade has a san mai structure: it is a three-layered blade that is made of a hard steel at the center of it with two outer layers of soft cladded iron. This makes cutting and slicing efficient and prevents the hard steel from breaking.
What makes san mai structured blade convenient is that its V-shaped edge it easy for you to handle it regardless of whether it is your dominant hand or not.
Great in sharpness, rust resistance, and hardness, the blade’s core material VG10 is a hybrid of carbon steel and stainless steel.
When the caulking becomes loose after long use, place it on something hard like an anvil and tap on it with a hammer to adjust.
When the caulking is too tight to open the blade, hit the knife on the table with the "Chikiri (tail)" face down.
As Higonokami knives are handmade, each Higonokami has its own characteristics and its tightness is not always uniform.
Although this product is made with materials resistant to rust, keep it dry and wash well when you cut objects high in salt content or acidity.
