Ikenaga Iron Furin Japanese Metal Wind Chime

¥7,400

Japanese wind chimes, called furin, are a symbol of the summer. These days, furin in Japan are typically made of glass, and feature a thin strip of paper that catches the wind to ring the bell. However, furin were traditionally made of iron, and even today in certain parts of Japan, like Shizuoka and Tohoku, iron furin wind chimes are far more common.

This metal wind chime by Ikenaga Iron Works features two small bells, that will be gently rung when the wind blows. Each bell plays a different note, one plays a high note, the other plays a low note, coming together in a beautiful harmony.

The sound of furin are said to remind listeners of the presence of wind. The sound of the chimes, and the existence of the cool breeze become intrinsically linked, which allows you to feel cooler and more refreshed, even in a hot and humid summer, just by hearing its sound.
