This premium Japanese tea caddy combined the best of Japanese traditional artwork in one standout piece.
Made from keyaki wood (Japanese zelkova), which has a distinct reddish brown color with clear grain, the canister itself has been carved beautifully. The interior lid fits snugly inside the canister, and the exterior lid locks everything in tight.
The outside of the canister has had Japanese washi paper pasted onto it, with a distinct paper fiber pattern that looks spectacular. The paper has then been lacquered using traditional Japanese lacquerware techniques, to make it strong, durable, and waterproof.
This tea canister was designed to store tea leaves and keep them fresh, but can also be used for coffee, sugar, or anything else that you'd like to keep in a cool, dry container.
Isuke has been dealing with lacquer and lacquerware in Kyoto for nearly 200 years, their traditional and contemporary Japanese designs are enhanced by the quality materials they use, which results in outstandingly high-quality and luxurious products.
