Manten White Sesame Paste is a Japanese nerigoma paste. Nerigoma is a delicious and nutty puree made by finely grinding toasted sesame seeds. This paste in particular is made by carefully washing sesame seeds, removing their skins, and roasting and kneading them by hand using the Manten craftsmen’s unique methods.
White sesame generally has a sweeter and creamier flavor than black sesame, as black sesame includes the hull of the seed which adds some bitterness. So this white sesame taste is ideal for adding that subtle creaminess to your dish.
If you’re a fan of tahini, you have to give nerigoma sesame paste a try. Tahini is a Mediterranean sesame paste, made using raw sesame seeds. But Japanese sesame paste uses toasted sesame seeds, which gives a much deeper, richer flavor.
Use this sesame paste as an ingredient in your cooking, or as a dipping sauce or salad dressing. It works well as a topping for shabu shabu pork, or tofu dishes too.
