Umeshu, often called Japanese plum wine, is a sweet-tart liqueur made by steeping green ume plums in alcohol rather than fermenting them. This Eikawa Brewery umeshu is made with carefully selected plums infused in sake and aged for eight years. The long aging creates a smooth, rounded taste with balanced sweetness and gentle acidity, while water from the Bandai region gives it a deep, layered flavor that preserves the natural aroma and richness of the plums.
Pairs well with fried foods, grilled meats, spicy dishes, cheeses, and simple desserts like vanilla ice cream.
