When you are making tonkatsu (deep-fried breaded pork), you have to coat a thick-sliced pork into a flour, dip it into a beaten egg, and press it into the breadcrumbs to make a breaded coating, but these steps are pretty burdensome. This batter package is designed to make these steps simpler one so that you can cook tonkatsu easier.
Showa Tonkatsu Batter Kit is a tonkatsu-beginner-friendly product that contains basic ingredients required in tonkatsu before frying: seasoning, flour, and egg. All you need to do is mix this product with water, dip the pork into it, then coat it with the breadcrumbs.
You can deep-fry the tonkastu with a skillet or pot that includes 1~2cm of oil, which is less than the standard amount required in cooking tonkastu. This helps you saving the oil and prevent excess oil intake.
You can use this product to other ingredients such as shrimp, fish, or vegetable to create your own breaded fries. You can also use this as a batter for croquette.
60g of this product can serve 4~6 pieces of tonkastu or 12~14 ebi fries (Japanese fried shrimp).
Mix 60g of the batter base with 100ml of water, then mix well with a whisk until the mixed solution gets soft and smooth.
Dip the ingredients into the batter, and coat it with the breadcrumbs.
Put the ingredients into a pot filled with a heated oil; let it reach to 170~180℃. Deep fry the ingredients for 2~3 minutes.
If you wish to fry the foods with less oil, deep fry them on high heat for 30~60 seconds, then turn them over and deep fry on medium heat for 3~4 minutes (if shrimp, 2 minutes).
