This Suehiro Polishing & Finishing Whetstone comes in a fine 5000 grit, so that you can easily polish blades to a mirror finish, while honing them to a sharper-than-factory standard. This extra-large whetstone is designed to finish blades, including long blades, to well past the level they're typically manufactured at.

This whetstone is made from only the finest materials to ensure durability and longevity, and even comes with a nagura to keep the stone level and flat. Suehiro's artificial whetstones are more durable than natural whetstones, and provide an even finish. The #5000 grit surface is free from impurities, so you won't have to worry about scratching your blade.

Use this whetstone to sharpen knives, sickles, razors and more. Typically #5000 grit whetstones are used to finish blades meant for softer materials, such as kitchen knives, straight razors, grass sickles, and precision woodworking tools.

  • Use on blades that are already in great condition, or have recently been sharpened up to 1000-2000 grit.
  • Soak your whetstone for a few minutes, to ensure it is saturated with water. Suehiro whetstones typically need to soak for less time than other brands.
  • Place your whetstone on a chopping board, or other hard and flat surface.
  • Gently run your blade along the whetstone at a slight angle.
  • Repeat until a burr forms on the blade.
  • If your blade is double-bevel, flip it over and repeat the process.
  • If your blade is single-bevel, flip it over, and briefly run it over the stone until the burr is removed.
