Umaibo literally translates as “tasty stick” in Japanese and is one of the most popular Japanese dagashi (cheap food snacks). It is a cylinder-shaped puffed corn snack with different flavors. Umaibo cheese flavor is the very standard variation of the Umaibo stick.
Umaibo is noted for its crispy and very light texture. Once you bite this snack, you can feel that the corn puff comfortably melts into your mouth. This food texture matches excellently well with the mildly seasoned cheese flavor.
Each corn stick is packed in an aluminum film package which is easy to carry and is resistant to humidity.
Trivia: Umaibo’s mascot character is called “Umaemon”. Although his name is actually a pun of the super famous Japanese anime character Doraemon and its appearance also has strong resemblance, there is nothing to do with Doraemon, according to the manufacturer.
