Sugiura Hon Mirin 1 Year Aged Traditional Sweet Rice Seasoning 500ml

¥3,500

Mirin is a traditional Japanese seasoning that has been used since the Edo period. It is one of the most common seasonings used in Japanese cuisine and Hon Mirin, or real mirin has an irreplaceable sweetness and rice aroma that cannot be found in other seasonings. Lovers of Japanese cuisine should not ignore this product!

This special Hon Mirin is additive free, and is made of only natural ingredients that come from Mikawa in Aichi prefecture. Mikawa is one of the most ideal places for brewing mirin because it has the ideal climate and water quality for making mirin.

Additionally, this Hon Mirin has been aged for one year, to really bring out its flavor and aroma in your cooking. Through its long brewing process, this Japanese rice seasoning has a unique sweetness and aroma that cannot be found in other Hon Mirins. It also has a beautiful amber color which will enhance the flavor and color of your dishes.

Versatile seasoning that works wonderfully in stir fries, stocks, broths, soups, stews, braises, and of course sauces and glazes. Adding this mirin to any kind of Japanese dish such in a soup base for noodles, nimono (simmered dish), and sunomono (Japanese vinegared dish) will enhance the taste and umami.

Not only useful for enhancing the flavors but Hon Mirin also works for preserving ingredients and preparing raw dishes such as sashimi.

It also works surprisingly well in confectionery. Put a small amount of this mirin in the batter of pancakes, dorayaki, and castella sponge cake, to add a Japanese flavor.

Adding an appropriate amount of this product before cooking rice will make it sweeter and glossier.

so this is what Mirin tastes like!

all i have ever found in my area is the supermarket "for cooking" sweetened brands. tasting this directly from the bottle as if it were saki was very surprising. it is very complex, semi sweet and yet earthy, leaving a nice warm finish. my standard gyoza dipping sauce (just soy, mirin, rice vinegar & sugar) tasted completely different using this brand. very pleased! will never use the supermarket stuff again!

    Really fantastic hon mirin

Hon mirin is hard to come by where I live (Tennessee) so having high quality mirin available through Japanese Taste is really convenient. I can find all kinds of aji mirin and mirin type sauces at Asian markets where I live, but they are all poor imitations of good hon mirin. This Sugiura mirin is great for all uses. I use it in my yakitori and ramen tare frequently because of its decent cost and delicious taste. If this was offered in 1-1.5L (or any other hon mirin) size bottles, I would buy one once a month!

Difficult to find genuine mirin in the states. I searched until I found a good purveyor of Japanese products,

Japanese taste is my go to.

    Great with fish

I use this mirin as part of a marinade & basting sauce when I bake several kinds of fish. Sea Bass, Halibut, and Salmon all come out moist and tasty.

    The best mirin

No salt added. Sipped as a sweet drink is very pleasant. Great for sauce and rice
